Great dishes yi'll nivir see oan a menu.
Here's some tae set yi awe aff. 1. Stane cauld roastit cheese ( ma favourite) 2. Tongue oan toast 3. The wee baw i flavour it the erse i a cheese n ingin packet. 4. Nutella oan a piece.
heres a wee recipe fur yeh boys, funt it in ma cleeks recipe book!
half cook sum 4 min yorkshire puds, fill wae baked beans, to[p wi a few chunks oh thick cut cornbeef, tap oaf wi cheese then fling back in oven fur another 3 mins....RARE!!!
Look, just because I can form fully constructive sentences and not revert to slang shouldn't be held against me. And "piece" isn't just a Scottish slangword. It's used in England as well (according to the novel "Anita & Me" by Meera Syall, who's from the Midlands).
When ah wis younger ah also couldny git enuff i spam roll-ups - chips wrapped in pork luncheon meat oot i McBlaine's, or Grangepans Fajitas as they are now so fashionably known.
Well done Lorne for stimulating this mass debate! Wid it no be a laff if unsuspecting diners at yir Bistro wur presented wi some i these items oan the menu rt enuff? Goan - we dare ye! See if there are any takers. It might even result in a letter ti the Jurnal if u oaffir bairns portions i, say, dookit breed.
As an aside - dis embdy else always religiously eat the choaklit lid oaf a Tunnocks Teacake, lick oot the cream ti reveal and scoff the great tasting moist biscuit base underfelt?
Deefend bi the soond i Lorne blawn his ain trumpet, but ah'll be roond for a piece oan dook if it makes it ti the menu. Cooken or White Cap noo mind. Nane i yer new age oalive ile pish. Ah hiv vague recollections of a story aboot a delicacy cried a midden served bi Cabrellis. Consisted i a pie, topped wi ice cream, on a roll. Am ah imaginin this? Carrier, ah think it wiz Kettle that sed it, can you check wi him? A piece or a roll oan mince is lovely, but messy and isny tae be taen ti yer work for yer dinner.
Ma fauthir telt me thit a 'roal oan pie' wis first invented in the 1800s bi workers it Kinneil Pit as an undergroond coal dust-free snack, later copied bi Cornish tin miners wi thir bealin "mutton pasties".
Anithir yin - eftir opening an tin i Fruit Cocktail, dis embdy else huv a fly drink i the syrup before serving the contents ti unsuspecting guests such as Lorne?
Here, Lorne, whit aboot a speshul tasting nicht fur the lads? Loak in, few beers, samples from the new menu available for tasting, scorecards an crayons for comments. Ahm sure the Journal wid be interestit in the outcome
If wur tae report the ootcome tae the Journal (Ah suggest Kevin Sturdie is the man tae rite up the report) then wull need fancy names fur the new dishes, like thay posh places dae. Piece on dook will be pain épais
Lorne, that fish in mulk hung is bogawful. Ma faither youst ti hae it oan a Sunday moarnin n the smell i it rose fi the livin room right up ti ma bedroom, makin ma hangovers even worse the thin they actually wur. Ti this day, disny maiter whit kind i fish it is n how its cooked,aw a kin smell is fish cooked in mulk.Scarred fur life!!
