Hurricane Bawbag Hits Hard

Hurricane Bawbag was the colloquial name given to a storm passing over areas of Scotland during the week beginning 5 December 2011.
On 8 December, winds reached up to 165 mph (265 km/h) which resulted in closure of many roads, bridges, schools and businesses.
The colloquial name "Hurricane Bawbag", was coined following discussion online, using the vulgar Scottish vernacular "bawbag", meaning scrotum.
Rumours that the north of England called the event "Hurricane John Wayne's Hairy Saddlebags" are unfounded.
