Fair Day 1969
The new fair website reveals the shameful past of Grange Primary School.
Here we can see the presentees performing their routine - "Golliwogs"!! Presumably the song was 'Dem bones Dem bones" or "Hey Mr.Tally Man - tally me banana".
In an act to reinforce the theme of white supremacy, one of the 'golliwogs' is shown being escorted doon the stairs by the Chief Lady, having been taken up to bow before the Queen.
Meanwhile, the pupils of Kinneil PS look on in abject horror, having just performed their own little number "A Ku Klux Klan lynching in Tennessee".

Funnily enough, I have colour Super 8mm footage of this Fair. The Queen was from St Marys that year.
Scratch that last comment. The footage I have is from 1968.

It must hav been the previous year cos the Grange did different presentees - 'The Battle i the Byney Water'
