Here'a a thing thit aye puzzles me aboot these auld Fair foaties - why are they walkn the OAPASIT wi thru the Toon - wis the Procession run back ti front in they days? Dae any i oor aulder readers ken the answer?
When it wis a Kinneil School Queen the procession went doon the Links then intae the toon, up the Wynd, along Panbrae, then through Deanfield tae Bo'mains Road up to Jamieson Avenue tae Newtoon coarner then doon tae the Dougie Park. When it wis St Mary's ur the Academy's turn fur the queen ah seem tae recall the procession route wis determined wae whaur she bid so thit the procession went as near hur hoose n airch is it could. That stoaped in the very late 60's early 70's when the route used today became the norm. The float in the photy wis Pinky & Perky (ask yir grannies!) and ah think wis yin o' Balfour Paton's efforts whae yist tae produce a loat o' crackers o' floats n airches in thae days. As fur "hoo dae we ken it's heidin west" check the phone boax it the Market Square!!
This site wis set up by a group i bored thirtysumhings who grew up thegithir in Bo'ness, a quaint former whaling port and mining town oan the banks i the Michty River Forth windin thru the Glens i Scotland. The site is carefully worded in the Bo'ness dialect - please let us ken (know) if u canny understaun it afore breengin in. Be shair ti look it the comments under each poast - they are usually funnier than the stuff we pit up, and feel free ti poast yir ain!! We especially want ti hear fi aw they local petrochemical 'workers' who dae nuhin bit read this site n watch porn oan the nicht shift, in between turning a couple i valves n takin a fly heid doon.

Case Solved.
Although this site is fur the old boys of Bo'ness, its great when oor REALLY OLD viewers chip in anaw.
In 1980 the Fair procession went past Kinneil Pit, heading east to west.
This foaty is nigh oan 35 years auld n the Toon Centre looks exactly the same, if no better.
Regeneration? - Ma Arse!!
